Fireball XL5 is the name of an indie-pop show hosted by Frank Seglenieks that for 18 years was on CKMS 100.3 FM Radio Waterloo. However, as a result of a format change in mid-2008, Fireball XL5 is now heard only as a podcast.

Of course I stole the name of the show from the 60s British Supermarionation program, which featured puppets kind of like the movie Team America.

I play alternative music that usually classified as indie-pop with the occasional feature on a particular artist or theme as well as discussions on pop culture topics of the day. I start off each show with the best song that I have heard since the last show.

January 27, 2012

This podcast features selections from my favourite albums from last year, it was a very good year for me musically with whittling the list down to the final 10 proving to be a difficult task.  Let's hope for the same next year.

January 6, 2012

The best singles I heard that were released in 2011, note not the best singles I heard in 2011 as sometimes I'm a bit behind the times and I try to keep the list limited to actual 2011 releases.  Next show will be the best albums of 2011.

First song of the show (best song I heard in 2011):
Sloppy Joe - Sometimes (Listen to it here:  http://soundcloud.com/whitelilyrecords/sloppy-joe-sometimes  )
